How to spot a fake or altered DODA
Updated:
An altered DODA almost always gives itself away because its data does not agree: the printed text says one thing, the QR code another and SAT's lookup a third. The most reliable way to catch it is to cross-check those three sources field by field before the truck reaches customs.
Warning signs
- The printed license, pedimento or customs section differs from the QR code.
- The integration number is missing from SAT's lookup or returns a different operation.
- Mismatched fonts, alignment or spacing within a single PDF field.
- A QR code pasted on top of the document or at a different quality than the rest.
- The document arrived through an unusual channel or with unusual urgency.
Cross-check QR, PDF and SAT
DODA Verify runs this comparison automatically with field-by-field rules. It takes three sources: the QR content, the printed text extracted from the PDF and SAT's public lookup response. It compares the integration number, license, pedimento and customs section, normalizing formats (such as leading zeros) to avoid false alarms.
Each difference shows the document value, the reference value and its source, and is rated critical or warning. A field that could not be read is never counted as a mismatch.
What to do if it does not match
- 1Hold the truckPause the crossing until the difference is cleared up.
- 2Keep the evidenceSave the original PDF, the QR photo and the verification result.
- 3Call your customs brokerAsk them to confirm the operation and, if needed, issue a correct DODA.
- 4Verify againScan the new document before releasing the trip.
Responsibilities
DODA Verify's result is an automated support check based on publicly available information. It is not a legal opinion and does not replace your customs broker's or the authority's review. The decision to clear remains with the parties to the operation.
Frequently asked questions
How does DODA Verify detect an altered DODA?
With field-by-field comparison rules across the QR code, the PDF's printed text and SAT's public lookup. Anything that does not match is flagged as a possible alteration.
Which fields are compared?
Integration number, customs broker license, pedimento and customs section.
Does a mismatch mean the DODA is fake?
Not necessarily — it may be a typo. It means you should review it with your customs broker before moving the truck.
Can I verify a DODA without the PDF?
Yes. The QR code is enough to query SAT; with the PDF the comparison also covers the printed text.
